For more than two years I was privileged to serve as the Art Director for Osso VR. Starting from humble beginnings when I came on the team wasn't more than 20 employees and I was the only individual who had ever worked professionally in any capacity on art for a game, film or VR. My goal was to revolutionize what was possible in real-time surgical imagery and simulation. I started by helping lead and train what was then and still is now the worlds largest team of medical illustrators. During this I was able to build up a library of CG training of over 24 consecutive hours in learning. I was quickly able to establish an art department and introduce production and technology to help us scale the company. We were able to recruit a team of over thirty individuals to the art department with backgrounds from large film productions, AAA games, television production, medical illustration technical art and production. Working directly with doctors and subject matter experts we were able to present learning surgeons with real-time lifelike anatomy that has never been achieved before.
Osso VR during my time grew to over 120+ employees. Working and leading both my team as well as having oversight over all visuals we were able to transition the company from developing on RIFT tethered PC VR to Oculus Quest while improving the visual quality of the product. My partnership and collaboration with engineering helped create the technology to make this possible. I also over saw and helped design a complete rebranding of the company. Our work led to multiple awards including the VR Awards and SXSW. In addition to that we were able to help secure more than $93 million dollars in funding and the company now works directly with some of the biggest medical companies in the world.
I feel so happy that I truly believe I was able to achieve my goals with the help of a wonderful group of talented individuals that all believe in the same mission to make a difference in the world. Osso VR is still as strong as ever and I look forward to watching all the amazing things yet to come for the company and my friends there.
