When I was a child I dreamt of adventures in the stars, of seeing impossible creatures, of accepting responsibility and protecting others with or without super powers, of doing what was right no matter how hard. The stories I grew up watching still replay in my head. They helped raise me, gave me shelter from storms and inspired me to put pen to paper. To eventually look into a glowing monitor I knew nothing about and start to attempt to pull images from my mind into our shared reality.
For over a decade I have had the privilege of contributing to film, game and VR experiences that hopefully inspire and teach the same way the films and games I experienced growing up did. The work I gravitate towards most is bringing digital humans and creatures real and imagined to life. Anatomy has been a constant passion of mine driving most of what I do in my art. I've spent years studying, visiting cadaver labs and have led the worlds largest medical illustration team working hand in hand with doctors and researchers during my career. I love to incorporate this knowledge and research both into the base models of the characters and creatures I create as well as apply it in motion through facial blendshapes and shot sculpting animated shots. In addition to being an individual contributor I greatly enjoy teaching and leading teams of likeminded colleagues toward accomplishing ambitious goals for visuals and storytelling. I am grateful to be doing what I love as a career and for the love and support of my wife Leslie. |
